Thank you so much for adding your name to the letter to Mosaic Forest Management’s VP for Sustainability and Chief Forester. Together we urged Mosaic to pause logging on Mines Road while the Xwulqw’selu (Koksilah) Watershed Sustainability Plan is being developed – and it made a real difference!
We delivered the letter on September 10, 2025, and received this response from Jimmie Hodgson on September 24:
As discussed, we have no immediate plans to harvest in the Mines Road or Panell Road areas. Our current focus is on working with the Koksilah Planning Team to develop adaptive forest management approaches, which we intend to apply through a pilot-based approach. We’re committed to sharing learnings with the community through formal channels, including the Collaborative Community Advisory Table [of the Watershed planning process], to support collaborative watershed planning.
Thanks to your support, Mosaic has paused logging above Cowichan Station for now — giving the planning process time to move forward. That’s a win worth celebrating.
